Current Haircare Routine: Keeping it Blonde & Soft!

27th August 2017

I feel like it’s about time I share my haircare routine as I’ve FINALLY found a winning combo. It’s not quick by any means. It may mean that your teen brother has to wait an extra 10/15 mins every morning, but when you get super blonde, soft, silky hair at the end of it – WHO CARES!??! (half sarcasm, half serious)

To make sure this is worth blogging about and sharing with you, I’ve kept my haircare routine the same for over a month now. It’s never failed me. It contains four hair products – which may be excessive to some people, I don’t really know – and is perfect for those of you who are fully blonde, balayage’d or ombre’d. If you’re wanting some blonde put into your hair too this may help when it comes to looking after it! Any questions, just ask, I’ve had different balayages throughout a good 3 years now.

For those of you wondering or wanting a similar hair style, at the mo, I currently have a balayage with two different dyes in. Ones are more traditional blonde while the other is the ashy, white tones you see. It’s then all melted together with a toner!

All of this is done in the shower too, so theres no awkward stages of waiting for a hair mask to do its thang whilst you’re sat in a towel, dripping wet and cold. It’s all in the comfort of a steaming hot shower, WOO!

STEP 1: The Body Shop Fuji Green Tea Shampoo

Ever since the body shop kindly sent me some products from the Fuji Green Tea range, I’ve become addicted. The smell is perfect for me as I’m not a fan of my hair being overly scented. I like to smell my perfume or body mist throughout the day not a mixture of those and my hair. It’s one of those scents that just smells CLEAN. Think fresh cotton sheets.

I can’t seem to find the shampoo online just yet but have a look if you’re reading this a while after I’ve posted!

STEP 2: The Body Shop Fuji Green Tea Conditioner

Just like a matching set of underwear, there’s nothing more satisfying than a matching set of shampoo and conditioner…right? I’ve had my fair share of pairs and always find it odd when brands make the ‘matching’ conditioner smell so different to the shampoo. So I was SO HAPPY (probably more than your average person) to find that the conditioner has the same clean, fresh smell.

I can hands down say that using these two products has made my hair feel so much lighter and softer. For someone with A LOT of hair, it’s important to me that it doesn’t feel as heavy as it looks. After swapping my old shamp and condish for the Fuji Green Tea range, the difference has been HUGE.

STEP 3: Charles Worthington Colour Enhancer Ultra Violet Purple Shampoo

Ok. I’d be lying if I wasn’t initially attracted to the shampoo because it made me think of the Stiff Dylans. (THE FIIIIYAAA YOU IGNITED..if you know, you know)

My balayage seems to fade so quickly whenever I get it done which is something I’m trying to work on, right to this day of typing. But doing steps 3 & 4 whenever I wash my hair makes the world of difference to the fading process.

I’ve found that the Charles Worthington Shampoo is perfect for getting rid of the brassy, yellow tones that can appear after a while in my balayage. It just helps to bring everything back to life and less “you got your hair done a few weeks back and it’s beginning to look old”.

The lovely Rhea who’s got a whole lot more blonde than me, suggested working small amounts into your hair at a time to get the best result. I couldn’t agree more! Having used it different ways, this is the best method in making sure you coat all of the blonde strands. I leave it in for about 2/3 minutes before rinsing.

What do shower minutes seem so much longer than normal minutes??

STEP 4: John Frieda Sheer Blonde Go Blonder Shampoo

This is the cherry on top. You may be questioning my excessive use of shampoos. But if you really want the white, ashy tones in your hair to stand out GET THIS SHAMPOO. ITS AMAZING.

Basically, the Charles Worthington purple shampoo I use to get rid of the brassy/yellowness, and then go over the top with John Frieda to bring out the white strands.

IT’S A DREAM COMBO. The John Frieda Go Blonder Shampoo seems to latch onto the ashy tones in my hair more so than anything else.

So that’s my hair care secret, a whole lot of shampoos. Let me know if you’ve tried any of these or if you WILL be soon! I always get a lot of posivite comments about my hair so I hope this was of interest to peeps! Let me know what you thought in the comments lovelies!

Hiya! No worries babe thanks for reading! I wash my hair every 3 days, mainly because it can last that long but also because it’s a long process in the shower 😂

Hey girl. I live in the US and let me say I LOVE your ascent. I follow you cause I think your style is spot on. You share content that your followers are interested in. Not only makeup but outfits, products to try in and out of the shower for body and hair. You took us along with you to events and encouraged us to just don’t be an introvert and sit home but to go and introduce yourself to others. You are awesome girl. Thank you for being you. Also, sometime if you feel comfortable enough to share, keep us informed how you enjoy your job. So happy you found one but happier if it is something that makes you happy. PS….forgot to say how much you make me laugh as well. When you get off topic fussing with your hair, cat, and laughing with your family. Post is long so I will leave it at that…

I’ve been looking for products to keep my blonde for longer so I’ll have to give these a try, so far I’ve just been using silver shampoo to stop it from going brassy
